“Tilting”, a new gland, and the structure of the jaw
Join Robert Price and Stephen King for 2 hours of nerdy updates on vocal anatomy for both a clinical and pedagogical setting.
1.We aim to explore and settle the debate on what can “tilt” and when… the answer might surprise you… plus we’ll take a look at the surrounding structures of the vocal folds
2.We’ll take a look at some recently discovered structures in the head and neck- the sort of accidental discoveries where some smart person sees something new on an MRI and it turns out to be undiscovered!
3.We will look at the jaw (and not just the Masseter) to better understand oromandobular function

Robert Price

Robert is a British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) registered practitioner, and one of London’s leading voice teachers with over 20 years experience training actors in Britain and Ireland. As a former actor in the Irish Theatre, he has multiple credits in Dublin and the West End as well as TV, Film and Radio. As a teacher and voice coach he has worked in Drama Schools, the Corporate Sector and the Professional Theatre. Robert held the senior post in voice at RADA for many years where he taught many of the young actors currently forming the vanguard of British Theatre. Some of these are including Jessie Buckley, Amie Lou Wood, Michael Balogun, Hiran Abesykera, Taron Egerton and James McArdle.

Robert holds a Master’s degree in Voice Studies from the Central School of Speech and Drama and a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, awarded for his work with voices in The British Conservatoire. He is a Jing trained Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist and Medical Acupuncturist, as well as having been trained in vocal massage with Stephen King and Manual Therapy for Voice and Swallowing Disorders with Walt Fritz. Robert also teaches Vocal Massage in the UK and overseas with Vocal Massage Training UK.

Stephen King

As a thought leader in the voice health sector, Stephen has been responsible for creating the Voice Care model in the UK, enabling greater access to private voice therapy services from a biopsychosocial perspective. As a Co – Founder of the not for profit Vocal Health Education, he has overseen the education of over 2,000 externally accredited Vocal Health First Aiders and several industry leading Voice Rehabilitation Specialists. As an author, Stephen has co-written Help! I’ve Got A Voice Problem, with further academic articles published in peer reviewed journals.

Within his role as a manual therapy educator, Stephen has delivered masterclasses and seminars across Europe, China and Japan, as well as having written and delivered the UK’s only intensive vocal massage training qualification. Stephen currently sits as the Director of London’s award winning, multidisciplinary Voice Care Centre, where he still occasionally gives treatments to people with voice problems seeking biopsychosocial management of their ongoing issues.
